The Interlocal Solid Waste Authority was established in 1991 after the Solid Waste Authority Act of 1991 and is comprised of Franklin, Bedford, Lincoln and Moore Counties and the City of Tullahoma as members, as well as cities within these counties who have adopted resolutions to participate in the transportation and disposal of solid waste and in its education program.

1.Environmental Education This is a field that requires a 4 year bachelor’s degree for the most part, however there aren’t enough college graduates in the science and engineering fields to fill the demand available in the job market today.
2.Air and Water Quality management
The jobs in this category consists of engineers, scientists and technicians to assure the quality of our air and water is safe and to repair any problems created in the past and prevent any in the future. Manufactures hire engineers and technicians to monitor current levels of emissions and to develop new ways to lower or prevent air and water pollutants from entering our atmosphere. Governments hire air and water professionals to establish, enforce, conduct research, inspect and monitor to assure better air and water qualities. The salaries are depending on your choice of position and the level of education obtained.
3.Meteorologist and Meteorological Technician
This is the study of the air surrounding the earth also known as the atmosphere by using modern technology to determine how its physical characteristics, motions and processes affect the rest of the environment. A meteorologist will specialize on one of these three categories: Operational or synoptic whose job is to forecast the weather, Physical meteorologist study the chemical and physical properties of the atmosphere. Some of their concerns include the effects of acid rain and ozone depletion to the environment. Climatologist collect, analyze and interpret past r4ecords of wind, rainfall, temperature and sunshine in global regions and determine how these changes affect various components of the environment. Their work is also used to help design buildings, heating and cooling systems and devise better farming techniques. The starting salary for those with a BS degree with no experience is from $28,000 – $35,000 depending on your grades in school. If you have a Master’s degree, the average salary is between $42,000 – $54,000.
4.Air Pollution Control Technician performs laboratory and field tests to determine the quality of the air in any specific area either inside a physicality or outdoors. You are able to obtain this job with a high school diploma, but more and more employers are starting to require technical training for either 1-3 years, and sometimes even requiring a BS degree. 9.Petroleum Engineer use their expertise to extract crude oil and natural gas from the earth. A BS degree is required with an average salary of $59,000. There are also support jobs in this field for less educated skilled workers who earn an hourly wage from $16.00 -$18.00.
10.Electrical and Electronics engineer will design, develop, test and supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical and electronic equipment, components or systems for commercial, industrial, military or scientific use. 11.Electric power Generation technician keep the power constantly flowing from power plants and substations to the public. 13.Energy Management Technician This career is divided into three different categories the first of which is an Energy research technician who perform research and run test to decrease energy consumption. Secondly, Energy production technicians who work with engineers and other technicians to install, operate, modify and repair systems and devices that convert raw energy inputs into usable energy supplies. The last division is energy conservation technicians who are involved with appraising energy use of existing structures and suggesting ways to increase energy conservation. 18.Surveyor and Mapping Scientist Land surveyors establish official land, air, space and water boundaries: write descriptions of land for deeds, leases and other legal documents or air space for airports.
